Veil and Ground : Blue Variations

This body of work explores layered abstraction through a restrained palette of deep blues, ochres, and neutrals. While initially inspired by the luminous blues and subtle golds found in architectural spaces such as the Blue Mosque, the paintings move beyond specified references to focus on surface, texture, and the passage of time.

Working in oil and cold wax , I build and disrupt each composition through successive layers-veiling, scraping, and abrading-allowing forms to emerge through accumulation and erosion.

The resulting compositions investigate the tension between structure and fluidity, where dense, textured passages interact with quieter fields. Each painting becomes a record of its own evolution, shaped by both intention and chance.
