Nayer Mousavi is a New York–based abstract artist working primarily in oil and cold wax. Her practice focuses on layered, process-driven painting, exploring surface, texture, and the interplay between control and spontaneity.
Born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in New York, Mousavi has maintained a lifelong connection to art. She later returned to painting with a renewed focus, developing her practice through continued study, including work at the New York Academy of Art and workshops with contemporary abstract artists, including Jerry McLaughlin, co-author of Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations.
In parallel with her artistic practice, Mousavi has a background in dentistry, where precision and material sensitivity inform her approach to painting.
